We are looking for a Principal Engineer to join our global Automation Engineering team to design, scale, and govern our enterprise integration substrate using AWS cloud services and modern iPaaS platforms.</p> <p data-renderer-start-pos="390" data-local-id="a20c2392ae5d">This is a senior individual contributor role for a hands-on system engineer who can set technical standards, establish integration best practices, and partner with cross-functional teams to automate complex business workflows at scale</p> <p data-renderer-start-pos="390" data-local-id="a20c2392ae5d"><strong>What you will do :&nbsp;</strong></p> <ul> <li data-renderer-start-pos="646" data-local-id="d7dc58420771"><strong data-renderer-mark="true">Drive</strong> the architecture and strategy for self-service cloud automations, creating paved paths that enable builders across Okta to connect enterprise systems seamlessly.</li> <li data-renderer-start-pos="817" data-local-id="99b33e63578c"><strong data-renderer-mark="true">Design, build, and deploy</strong> high-throughput event-driven integration flows, API gateways, and async orchestration workflows using AWS serverless architectures and iPaaS platforms.</li> <li data-renderer-start-pos="998" data-local-id="9339ab27dfe4"><strong data-renderer-mark="true">Build</strong> reusable frameworks, developer SDKs, self-service primitives, and integration templates to streamline automation delivery.</li> <li data-renderer-start-pos="1130" data-local-id="bd0c3054fc3e"><strong data-renderer-mark="true">Serve as</strong> a technical expert on AWS cloud services and modern iPaaS tooling, driving scalable architecture, reliability, and builder enablement.</li> <li data-renderer-start-pos="1277" data-local-id="37b135e4b9da"><strong data-renderer-mark="true">Partner with</strong> operations, security, and platform teams to strengthen monitoring, observability, structured audit logging, and automated governance.</li> <li data-renderer-start-pos="1427" data-local-id="53546de72a29"><strong data-renderer-mark="true">Mentor</strong> engineers and influence engineering culture across teams, instilling a platform engineering mindset and raising the bar on code quality and DevEx.</li> <li data-renderer-start-pos="1584" data-local-id="20cf07657d79"><strong data-renderer-mark="true">Collaborate with</strong> security, compliance, and business stakeholders to ensure self-service automations are secure, resilient, zero-trust aligned, and enterprise-ready.</li> <li data-renderer-start-pos="1752" data-local-id="e749e1b5dc9f"><strong data-renderer-mark="true">Maintain and enhance</strong> platform primitives and integration components to meet evolving enterprise and builder requirements.</li> </ul> <p><strong>What we are looking for :</strong></p> <ul> <li data-renderer-start-pos="1904" data-local-id="4cd99d2ea60c"><strong data-renderer-mark="true">12+ years of</strong> software engineering experience in Java and Python, focused on platform engineering, backend systems, distributed architectures, and enterprise integrations.</li> <li data-renderer-start-pos="2078" data-local-id="44d6a45e59e7"><strong data-renderer-mark="true">6+ years of</strong> hands-on experience with modern front-end frameworks (React, Next.js, TypeScript) to build intuitive developer portals, operator dashboards, and self-service interfaces.</li> <li data-renderer-start-pos="2263" data-local-id="c4b8e289c9bb"><strong data-renderer-mark="true">Deep expertise with</strong> AWS and event-driven architectures alongside enterprise iPaaS platforms (Zapier, n8n, etc).</li> <li data-renderer-start-pos="2378" data-local-id="55f2a999cd5c"><strong data-renderer-mark="true">Strong knowledge of</strong> software engineering best practices: <span data-highlighted="true" data-vc="highlighted-text"><span class="_1mT5xdRAKS"><span class="_0nmozVaHVx _2V7sgO2M4S _3BoeIDwZ7G _30zrXRyxdf _0ReiIH7zJH" data-testid="definition-highlighter">IaC</span></span></span> (Terraform/CloudFormation), CI/CD release automation, API contract design (REST/GraphQL), and unit/integration testing standards.</li> <li data-renderer-start-pos="2572" data-local-id="7a5176f71d50"><strong data-renderer-mark="true">Experience in</strong> platform reliability, central logging, error recovery, operational observability, and self-service governance frameworks.</li> <li data-renderer-start-pos="2711" data-local-id="1501623b7462"><strong data-renderer-mark="true">Demonstrated success in</strong> building internal platform tools, self-service capabilities, or paved paths that empower and accelerate engineering teams across an enterprise.</li> <li data-renderer-start-pos="2882" data-local-id="079049eb5549"><strong data-renderer-mark="true">Hands-on experience with</strong> AI development and integrations, embedding LLM capabilities, agentic primitives, or intelligent features into cloud automations.</li> <li data-renderer-start-pos="3039" data-local-id="d881a57ad3ee"><strong data-renderer-mark="true">Familiarity with</strong> AI-driven <span
